It is fantastic news as reported by the BBC that ". . . Veterans who served on Arctic convoys and in Bomber Command during World War II are to be recognised for their bravery and service with a new medal and award."
It is about time, and although a long time coming, this sensible decision is not too late. Thousands upon thousands of brave people, lived and operated in fear and extreme risk. Their colleagues saw too many die, and their loved ones often had no body to bury. Gone to the sea, or a scrap of land in a foreign country.
Well done to those that made the right decision. Now please distribute the medals and clasps as soon as possible to those who are still alive and to the widows of those who are not.
